We seek to give a home to those who would otherwise have none orphans, destitute women and the elderly. In doing so, we have tried to avoid a regimented, institutional atmosphere and sought, instead, to create the atmosphere of a large family. Our needs are numerous. We have many to feed every day. They have to be clothed and sheltered. Money has to be found to educate the children. Medicines and medical care expensive but have nevertheless to be provided as and when required. While our expenses rise steadily, our income does not. Government grants, which form a part of our revenue, have not grown at the same pace. We run a small bakery, a curry powder unit, a printing press and a tailoring Unit which provide some little extra income while giving training to the girls in the process. Paddy and vegetable cultivations help to meet part of our food needs. Contributions and gifts, in cash and kind, help to make both ends meet. Charitable institutions have also helped us; Oxfam provided assistance to set up a bakery. We have also received financial assistance from Tatas, Jindal Trust and others. But it is a precarious, hand to mouth existence. We need your generous help to make sure that this unique institution survives the uncertain times ahead.
